If you still have the Flyer .94 manual lying around, find the section on
Camera/Light Targets. In that same section, there is an explination of
Goals, which is what the IK-Opts button used to be called. Just a
quick-and-easy idea of how it works.
Also, check out LightWave Pro Vol. 3 Issue 7 (July 95 -- the one with the
Voyager on the front) has a tutorial by Mark Thompson about LW. It's
more up-to-date than the Flyer manual, and includes the new Unaffected by
Parent and Limited Range of Rotation (or something like that) feature.
Mark Thompson als has In.Focus out, which is a superb adavanced animation
tape. It includes IK information, but back when the only IK option was
"Goal Object". This is DEFINATLY worth the money!
Also, LW 4.00k Amiga (beta) is slow as dirt for IK. I mean set up the
chain, select the goal, click, and move the mouse. Now wait. After
about 5 seconds, it finally moves. I _PRAY_ this is beta debug code!
(that and the slow redraws...)
BTW, just checked -- it's in the 4.03 manual, too (which should be the
"current" one until the 4.1 version ships). I found it ironic that back
when the IBM Pre-Release was out, the only docs for IK were found in the
Flyer manual, which came with LW 3.5. :)
If you want some more info, check out the Flyer docs and mail me back.
Good luck!
